“Alien: Earth” Returns: Season 2 Set to Premiere in 2027

Fans of FX’s critically acclaimed sci-fi series Alien: Earth can rejoice! After weeks of anticipation, the network and Disney Entertainment Television confirmed a renewal for a second season. The announcement also revealed that creator, writer, and showrunner Noah Hawley will continue to helm the series under a new overall deal with FX, ensuring creative continuity for this ambitious project.

Filming for Season 2 is slated to begin in London during 2026, marking a shift from the Thailand-based locations used for the first season. This strategic move promises to streamline production and potentially bring viewers the next chapter of Alien: Earth as early as 2027. As before, it will stream exclusively on FX & Hulu in the US and Disney+ internationally.

The news comes as a welcome surprise after a suspenseful period following Season 1’s conclusion. The first season captivated audiences with its thrilling blend of sci-fi horror and corporate intrigue. We witnessed the devastating consequences when a technologically advanced corporation, Prodigy, unleashed deadly Xenomorphs on their remote tropical headquarters. By the end, the island had become a chaotic battleground ruled by hybrid “Lost Boys” alongside two fully grown Xenomorphs. Simultaneously, Weyland-Yutani forces moved in to seize control of these formidable extraterrestrial assets by force.

Hawley’s ambitious vision for the series was hinted at earlier this year when he revealed a detailed roadmap for Alien: Earth. The returning cast – including Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Babou Ceesay, and Samuel Blenkin – is expected to reprise their roles alongside potential new additions. These characters will undoubtedly face even greater challenges as Season 2 unfolds, navigating the treacherous landscape of corporate ambition, survival instincts, and terrifying alien encounters.

Hawley expressed his excitement about continuing the story, stating: >“FX has always supported bold, character-driven storytelling. From the very beginning with Fargo, they’ve encouraged me to take creative risks and follow the story wherever it leads. I’m grateful to continue exploring the world of Alien: Earth alongside our partners, cast, and crew as we begin the next chapter.”

While fans await more details about Season 2, the anticipation surrounding Alien: Earth further cements its position as a standout within the franchise. It also reinforces FX’s commitment to delivering high-quality science fiction that pushes creative boundaries.
